Lincoln On Time Management
"The leading rule for the lawyer, as for the man of every calling is diligence. Leave nothing for tomorrow which can be done today.   Never let your correspondence fall behind.  Whatever piece of business you have in hand, before stopping, do all the labor pertaining to it which can then be done.

"When you bring a common-law suit, if you have the facts for doing so, write the declaration at once.  If a law point be involved, examine the books, and note the authority you rely on, upon the declaration itself, where you are sure to find it when wanted...In business not likely to be litigated...make all examinations of titles, and note them, and even draft orders and decrees in advance.   This course has a triple advantage; it avoids omissions and neglect, saves your labor, when once done; performs the labor out of court when you have leisure, rather than in court, when you have not...

"As a general rule, never take your whole fee in advance, nor any more than a small retainer.   When fully paid beforehand, you are more than a common mortal if you can feel the same interest in the case, as if something was still in prospect for you, as well as for your client. And when you lack interest in the case, the job will very likely lack skill and diligence in the performance.

On Time
Agathon
"This only is denied even to God: the power to undo the past."

Arabian Proverb
"Nothing lasts forever.   There are only moments."

Chinese Proverb
"People of the West are always getting ready to live."

George Eliot (Mary Anne Evans)

"The golden moments in the stream of life rush past us and we see nothing but sand; the angels come to visit us, and we only know them when they are gone."

"It is never too late to be what we might have been."

Benjamin Franklin
"Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made of."
(A maxim prefixed to "Poor Richard's Almanac" in 1757)

Baltazar Gracián
"Nothing really belongs to us but time, which even he has who has nothing else."

José Incenteros
"Do not make the mistake of confusing the past with the present nor seek in it the ideals of the future."

Mary Jean Irion
"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are.  Let me learn from you, love you, savor you, bless you before you depart.  Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow.  Let me hold you while I may, for it will not always be so.  One day I shall...bury my face in the pillow, or raise my hands to the sky, and want, more than all the world your return."

William Law
"Be intent upon the perfection of the present day."

Sanskrit Poem
"Look to this day, for it is life
The very life of Life.

In its brief course lie all the realities and truths of existence:
the joy of growth,
the splendor of action,
the glory of power.

For yesterday is but a memory
And tomorrow is only a vision;
but today well lived
makes every yesterday a memory of happiness
and every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Look well, therefore, to this day!"

Gloria Steinem
"I've wasted a lot of time, and time is life.  Time is all there is."
(Founder of Ms Magazine; interview with Gene Griessman for "Up Close"--TBS)

"The Value Of Time"
Imagine if there were a bank that credits your account each morning with $86,400, and carries over no balance from day to day. Every evening it deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day.

What would you do? Draw out all of it, of course.

Each of us has such a bank. It's name is Time.

Every morning, it credits us with 86,400 seconds.   Every night it writes off, as lost,
whatever of this we have failed to invest to good purpose.   It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft.

Each day it opens a new account for us.
Each night it burns the remains of the day.
If we fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is ours.

There is no going back. There is no drawing against "tomorrow."
We must live in the present on today's deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness, and success. The clock is running. Make the most of today.

To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade.

To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby.

To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.

To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask two lovers who are waiting to meet.

To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the plane.

To realize the value of ONE-SECOND, ask a person who just avoided an accident.

To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a silver medal in the Olympics.

Treasure every moment that you have. And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time.

And remember that time waits for no one. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.

Friends are a very rare jewel.
They make you smile, and encourage you to  succeed.   They lend an ear, they share a word of praise, and they want to open their hearts to us.

People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime... Embrace
all.
